Welcome to Region 10

Welcome to Region 10 of the Quilters Guild which covers the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. Our region is coordinated by a very enthusiastic committee of volunteers and we are reponsible for local communications and events for our community of quilters across the region. Here's just a few of the things we do:

  • We publish a regional magazine called Cobwebs which is issued three times a year to your home address.  This gives you contact details for committee members, a schedule of our planned activities and a list of local groups, as well as other information.   In addition, a monthly e-newsletter, 10 Threads, is issued by Karen Fiedler Booth, our regional coordinator, to keep you informed of updated notices and events.
  • We hold Event Days - at least one in each county per year, organised by the Area representative for that county.   They are usually held in a community meeting room or church hall, from 10am to 4 pm.  There is time to meet and greet, show and tell, sit and chat, spend and sew and learn!    There?s usually a small hand-sewing project for attendees so it is useful to bring along a small sewing kit as well as a finished project to share with the group in show and tell, though that?s not compulsory.  There's a talk and/or demonstration from our guest speaker for the day.  There is also a trader who supports the day and gives you the opportunity to buy just a bit more fabric.  We also run a bring-and-buy table for members to sell off unwanted sewing items - we take a percentage for the Regional funds and the rest goes to you.
  • We organise and publicise events in our region such as workshops, quilt shows and exhibitions.  See here for more information.
  • We also have a regular Zoom get together for members from the Region as well.  Details are in 10 Threads, do join us if you can.
  • We have a Region 10 Facebook page as well as an Instagram account.
  • There's also a WhatsApp group for Region 10 members - set up during Lockdown  as a way of keeping our community of quilters regularly in touch.  It has proved very popular with everyone so we are continuing it.  It is optional so if you would like to be included, please email [email protected]
