Dancing with the Wall - Irene Roderick Improv Workshop 2024

Workshop Review by Yvonne R

The idea of a workshop using only two types of material, preferably plain was a bit daunting at first. I chose an ombre green/yellow and a grunge white which I thought would be softer and would give a gentler contrast than a plain white one can often give.

Irene put everyone at ease and assured us that she would be sat watching what we were doing the whole time and helping with ideas. The first block was sort of easy but thereafter putting together further blocks stretched my brain. I had ideas about shapes of blocks, some of which just didn't work but we were given an idea of how they could work along with the first block. This went on during the whole exercise. We were all encouraged to have a design wall and as each block was finished it was placed on the wall.

This workshop was a great learning curve on a very different modern scheme. I won't spoil the ideas for those of you lucky enough to take part in the future in a workshop with Irene but I believe you will enjoy it and it will move you on in your thinking of modern.
