SEMINARS
The annual seminar is an important part of BQSG. Each year we choose a location where we can also visit a site or museum with interesting textiles or patchwork in the local area. At this short residential event the seminar brings together serious researchers as well as those who are interested in hearing about quilts, textiles and quilt history without wanting to carry out personal research. If you are logged in as a member, you can read about previous seminars here.
In addition to papers selected for presentation there are often visits, talks and the opportunity to look at quilts brought by individual members. There are books for sale (and the occasional quilt) as well as time to talk with new and old friends about quilts, conservation, social history and quilt collections.

In Person Events
'In Person' study sessions are held occasionally at museums and other venues around the country. Members share their skills and expertise. See details below when available.
Online Training Sessions
Our online training sessions have in the past been very successful, with topics such as 'Beginning Research', 'Progressing Research' and 'Fabric Identification and Dating'. We are intending to hold further sessions in the future and details will be added below when available.
The Abbey Hotel, Great Malvern
BQSG Seminar 2026
Our 2026 BQSG Seminar will be from 15th - 17th October.
This will be held at The Abbey Hotel in Great Malvern and include a study morning with the Hereford Museum Learning and Resource Centre.

Bradford College fabric samples
Bradford College Textile Archive Study Session
On Friday 26th June 2026, Mary Whitehouse has arranged a Study Session for us to get a close-up look at some items from the Bradford College Textile Archive. This includes an eclectic range of resources, including teaching materials from earlier days of the College, collections of textiles from the US to inspire British designers, and guard books from now closed Bradford mills.
