This is a very lovely little baby?s jacket and bonnet in a pale peach, lightweight crepe fabric with a silky peach lining. They are shadow quilted with tiny, neat stitches in blue thread and the very delicate and numerous motifs are stuffed with green, pink and yellow wool ?stuffing?.
Small areas of smocking are used to provide the fullness on the jacket.
The jacket and bonnet are very neatly and expertly handsewn throughout apart from the sleeve, yoke and shoulder seams which are machine stitched, also with tiny neat stitches.
Shadow quilting was popular in the 1930's so these were possibly made around 1930-40?
