This quilt was made as part of a series of quilts inspired by water reflections. The theme arrived with a commission from John M. Walsh III (Jack), who asked if I would make a quilt for his contemporary quilt collection, using the theme of water. Firstly, I made a piece called ?Reflections? in 1993, which I used to show Jack of my intentions (this quilt now belongs to Nottingham Castle Museum). I then proceeded to make the large 2 metre square quilt called ?Nottingham Reflections? in 1994 for him. Thirdly, I continued on this theme and made ?Reflections III?. It started something very special for me, and I continued to make many quilts and photographic studies on this theme, until 2004. For all of these works I developed my ?free-form? collage technique. I used large hand stitching as my quilting for the first time in ?Reflections III?.
