A slightly more unusual item this month.
This is a pretty little quilted bedcape, possibly dating to the 1940?s as there is one of a similar design but with different quilting patterns in the Penelope ?Quilting? booklet from around that time.
The fabric is a soft, lightweight pale aqua with a cream lining and is entirely handsewn - even the ribbon ties and the seam and neck taping. The background is quilted with tiny stitches forming large diamonds and round the edge of the cape there is a neatly stitched trail of an eight petalled flower alternating with a group of three ?ivy? shaped leaves making a lovely design. The side seams are stitched by hand and the edges have been turned in and again stitched with tiny neat stitches.
