This lovely pink satin tea cosy was made by a teenager named Jennifer in the late 50?s at evening classes in Hoylake, the Wirral. It is one of two that she made for her bottom drawer using the same pattern and as this one has never been used it is in excellent condition.
After they had left school, Jennifer and a school friend joined a Soft-furnishing Evening Class where they learned English and Italian quilting and made a number of cushion-covers, an eiderdown each, lampshades and tea cosies.
The back is plain but the front has a large flower with leaves and smaller flowers which have all been very neatly stitched and corded. There is a piped edge round both the front and back panels with a ruched gusset between.
