Region 7 Committee

Co-ordinator and Web Editor

My name is Alison Mayall and I have recently taken over from Geraldine as Coordinator for the region.

Do contact me if you would like to join the committee - we are always in need of willing helpers!

I am still the region 7 Web Editor, so, If you have any questions or you would like an exhibition or new Quilting group advertised on the Quilters Guild website - then just send me an email

I like modern quilting, and love improv piecing as it’s very freeing and lots of fun. That said I have done my fair share of traditional and contemporary patchwork and quilting, having completed my C&G’s certificate and diploma about 10 tears ago now!

I am a member of three local quilt groups, Chiltern Quilters, Bucks Modern Quilters and Fat Quarters. So, I always have a project or three, on the go. Oh, and I have a nice little pile of quilt tops waiting to be quilted by me at some point in time!

Treasurer

Treasurer

I am Bobby Maxwell, Region 7 Treasurer.

I live in South Bucks, and I think the southern-most member of the region. I have been sewing since I was a child, starting with felt and Aida, and have progressed into making my own clothes. I also made clothes for my husband and children and now grandchildren.

I decided to embark into Patchwork and Quilting by taking City and Guilds in 2002, both Certificate and Diploma at Missenden Abbey.

I use a variety of techniques and enjoy making quilts for friends, family, and charities. I also enjoy doing various challenges set by the groups I belong to. I am a member of Fat Quarters, Hexagon Quilters and Bucks Modern Quilters, and a few house groups.

Northamptonshire Rep

I’m Janette, the area rep for Northamptonshire. I live in the north of the county and belong to a quilt group in the village. I’ve been sewing for ever, taught by mum, a dressmaker, and inspired by dad who spent every evening sewing patchwork. He made quilts for his four daughters and 9 grandchildren.

My first quilt (EPP) took about 28 years to complete! Since then, I have made several quilts: more EPP, machine pieced, hand quilted and quilted on a long arm at home. I’ve recently started experimenting with some forms of textile art, dyeing fabrics and threads. I enjoy this but often revert back to a good geometric pattern!

I’m looking forward to meeting quilters in the region at events and at quilting groups.

Hertfordshire rep

Hi! I am Jennie, your Hertfordshire Rep.

Do get in touch if you would like to know more about quilting events or groups in Hertfordshire. Also, if your group has an upcoming event, or speaker programme, do let me know. I will try to get it promoted through the guild and to other groups in the area.

I am a retired teacher, living in Wheathampstead and I started quilting when we went to live in America for 2 years back in the 1980’s. I started many craft hobbies when my children were young, but quilting is the one that stuck with me! My Mum was a needlework teacher and examiner, and she also worked in a garment factory and made coats out of blankets during the war, when clothing had to be bought on coupons. So, although I am by career a scientist, sewing was in my blood, I guess.

I am an active member of Mead Quilters in Wheathampstead; a lovely group of ladies who make quilts for charity and heart cushions for breast cancer patients among many other things. I really enjoy their programme of speakers as well as getting ideas for new quilts and increasing my fabric stash at the sales table!
