Young Quilters: A Creative Sewing Group for Children in Yorkshire

Young Quilters - 8th September 2026

Does your child love making things, being creative or learning new skills? The Young Quilters group in Cleveland and Yorkshire is welcoming young people aged 5–12 to come along and discover the world of stitching and quilting.

Based in Otley, West Yorkshire, the group meets quarterly during term time and gives children the chance to try their hand at a range of creative skills in a friendly, supportive environment.

And it’s about much more than making a quilt.

Children can learn hand stitching, sewing machine skills and how to turn their ideas into something they can be proud of. It’s a great opportunity to learn something new, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun while making.

A great activity for children

The sessions are also ideal for children involved in Rainbows, Brownies, Beavers, Scouts or other uniformed groups, and could provide inspiration for age-appropriate badge work.

The next Young Quilters meeting will be held on:

Saturday 7 November?

Bridge Street Church, Bridge Street, Otley

10am–12.30pm

Ages 5–12

Free to attend

Please note: Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the session.

Come and have a go!

You don't need to be an experienced stitcher; the sessions are all about learning, creating and having fun.

Membership in the Young Quilters Guild is also free, giving young people the opportunity to join a wider community of young makers and creators.
