Hello Everyone
I would like to introduce myself as your new Chair of Membership Services. My name is Carol and I have been a member of the Guild since 2003 and a member of staff since 2008. I am a member in region 14 and have served on their committee as an Area Representative some years ago. I started quilting when I lived in Cyprus in the early 1990’s and like many of us, the first quilt I made was for my baby daughter who was born there. Our family spent more time in Cyprus when both our children were primary school age, and I joined a class there to make a sampler quilt. Most people made a single size, but I went large and made a king size! Sadly, that quilt no longer exists, but the baby one does.
I belong to a local quilt group which is affiliated to the Guild. I am an active member and sometimes lead the little workshop sessions we run at most of our meetings and organise the publicity for our biannual quilt show.
I am quite an eclectic quilt maker and am happy to try anything at least once. I do particularly love the work of the late great Gwen Marston, but if I do want to make something with perfect points, always turn to foundation piecing.
My current staff role is Membership and Volunteer Services Coordinator alongside the wonderful Alice. Between us, we aim to offer you the best service possible in responding promptly to your questions. I will be continuing in this role, so please continue to contact myself and Alice on [email protected]
As Chair of Membership Services, I hope you will feel able to contact me with your suggestions on how we can improve what we currently offer to members, what we do well, what you don’t like, and what we can try to do better. Please speak freely, I am open to considering anything at all, but of course, cannot promise that we can implement all your suggestions.
I am very grateful to the nearly 1000 members who have recently responded to our members survey and look forward to working closely with Connie to analyse the responses and use them as a blueprint to develop our future membership offering.
Please do contact me on [email protected] I really look forward to hearing from you.
