Traditional Quilt Group Banner

Hello and welcome to the Traditional Special Interest Group!

Our motto: traditional in craft but not mindset.

We are a varied group of people, some specialists and some not so much! Our commonality is we all love to quilt using methods ranging from hand quilted wholecloth to free motion quilting and precision machine cut fabric.

Throughout the year we have virtual events, retreats and challenges open to all our members to take part in. We also have a display stand at Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.

We asked a few members "why did you join the group"? and got a variety of answer:

"I like pieced quilts and wanted to learn more"

"Traditional techniques"

"Wholecloth quilts"

"Keeping the craft alive"

"Interested in all the stitchy things that go on top"

"To meet quilters from other areas with similar interests"

"I make all quilt styles but like to feel part of something by being in a group"

Whatever your own personal reason and skill level, we want to share our enthusiasm for quilting with as many people as possible via traditional and modern methods.

Membership benefits include:

  • a copy of our In the Frame newsletter three times per year
  • email updates between newsletters
  • virtual sew and chat monthly meetings
  • annual sewing retreat
  • the option to take part in challenges
  • Facebook: a private members-only group

We very much encourage active participation and a sense of community within our group, whilst encompassing a wide range of quilting styles and ability.

Hopefully there really is something for everyone!
