I’d like to share with you my wholehearted support for the rebranding of our much-loved group, Contemporary Quilt to Contemporary Textiles.
As a community we recognise quilting and stitched textiles as our own form of artistic expression, a celebration of skill and beautiful creativity, yet it is at risk of fading from view within an increasingly fast-paced modern culture.
The Guild, our regions, and all of our Special Interest Groups stand together with the belief that stitching and quilt-making are not only important elements of our artistic heritage, but living traditions that continue to inspire, connect, and give voice to diverse experiences.
This rebrand should be viewed as a renewed declaration of intent -we will continue to celebrate the past, shape the present, and inspire the future of stitched textile art.
As Contemporary Textiles, this dynamic group stands at the cutting edge of quilting and stitched textile practice. Its vision and innovation will help forge our path forward and ensure that, as a community, we remain relevant within today’s art and textiles landscape, all while honouring the traditions of quilting that brought us here.
