How wonderful to be able to get together with friends and acquaintances again in an almost normal setting. At least we could use the kitchen for the refreshments and eats.
The morning started with the usual announcements after which there were beautiful quilts for show and tell. See the photos. David Jones a local artist, proceeded to talk on the subject of colour and how colour can influence the overall effect this has on a piece of art (and can be applied to our quilts). He also inspired thoughts of looking at our work in different way by turning some of his slides upside-down and on their sides.
Our trader was Mark Pickles from Sewing Studio in Bath. What a wonderful selection of fabrics he had on offer. I am sure some of us spent more than we intended! In the afternoon, Mark gave a short talk on the care of our machines and the use of needles for different purposes. He then proceeded to give a demonstration on the new Janome sewing/quilting machine and a demonstration using the Sashiko sewing machine which was very interesting. Fascinating!
Mark also offered 10% discount to all present and 10% discount to all guild members on any future purchases. Go online to the Sewing Studio website and sign up for the newsletter to get information on all the up coming specials. Sewing Studio will be our trader for the 2023 Powys Area day.
All in all, I think a good day was had by all who attended with loads of raffles prizes. My thanks to those who donated prizes and brought eats for everyone to enjoy. Lynn Kinsey
