It is with regret that Region 16 Committee have taken the decision to cancel this event planned for 2027. This popular event has taken place at Stirling University in recent years; however we have been receiving feedback from delegates about challenges getting around the university (only 1 lift, long corridors) and getting up the hill to the accommodation. In addition, the University have refurbished the classrooms and dining room, and they are no longer suitable for our needs. They have also declined to accommodate our request for more suitable seating and tables.

We looked at various options to deliver the weekend, but ultimately, we were financially constrained by the contractual obligations imposed by the chosen venue, the Stirling Court Hotel. The hotel required substantial deposit, and full payment for all rooms reserved (including accommodation) way in advance of what was acceptable to the Committee. There was a risk of the Guild making a significant loss if not enough people were able to book and more importantly pay the full amount so far in advanced of the event actually taking place. Discussions are already going with other possible venues for future events. We are sorry to disappoint everyone who was looking forward to the Residential Weekend, but we will keep you posted on our plans!
