Region 8
In Person
Join us for a friendly and inspiring day with fellow quilters at the QGBI Region 8 Regional Day on Saturday 24 October, from 10am to 4pm, at Stock Village Hall, Common Road, Stock, Essex, CM4 9NF.
We are delighted to welcome Sheena Aitken of Green Man Quilts as our guest speaker.
In her talk, From Confused to Confident – Colour Magic for Quilters, Sheena explores one of the most important aspects of quilting—colour.
While colour is a vast subject, she will share key principles and practical tips to help you make more confident colour choices for your quilts, giving you inspiration and ideas to take home. With a B.Ed in Creative Arts and City & Guilds qualifications in Patchwork and Quilting, Sheena brings a wealth of teaching experience and a real passion for helping quilters develop their skills. A member of The Quilters’ Guild, the Modern Quilt Guild and SAQA, she is also currently working towards becoming an Accredited Quilt Judge. Most importantly, Sheena loves teaching and encouraging quilters to try new things, build their confidence and create the quilt of their dreams!
In the afternoon, Laura Brown from Thread Above The Rest will lead a relaxed Miniature Mouse or Gonk Pin Cushion Workshop. Laura is the founder of A Thread Above The Rest and an award-winning textile designer, maker and experienced tutor based in Essex. With a degree in Textile Design, 13 years of teaching experience and a wealth of knowledge covering weaving, tailoring, restoration, dressmaking and decorative textiles, Laura is passionate about sharing her skills. Her workshops welcome all abilities — from complete beginners to experienced crafters — with no such thing as a silly question!
Workshop kits can be ordered with your entry ticket by 17th October and cost £4 (cash payable on the day) and will include all materials. Please bring a small sewing kit.
The day will also include:
