Majyk Scraps charity quilt 2026 - Red, Black and Dangerous
Majyk Scraps are a group of six Suffolk based textile artists who meet monthly to share ideas, make quilts and set challenges for each other.
We aim to stage an exhibition annually and raise money for local charities.
For our 2026 exhibition we decided we would raise money for the Ipswich Hospital Breast Care Centre as some members and friends have been treated at Ipswich.
On our annual retreat this March we made a quilt to be raffled at the exhibition. The design is based on bikinis and basques and we used a pattern that was successfully
made by one of our members for our 2025 exhibition. Needless to say we had great fun making the quilt, embellishing the bikinis and basques with zips, tassels and lace.
Over our supper of fish and chips (and a glass of wine) we came up with the name for the quilt (Red, Black and Dangerous) and it was suggested we enter the quilt into the ‘Group’ category at the Festival of Quilts held at the NEC in early August. So this years raffle quilt will be going on a journey to Birmingham and be seen by several thousands of quilters before it is finally raffled in September at the exhibition.
