Attention all 1718 Coverlet enthusiasts and makers - The Festival of Quilts 2018 will be featuring a one-off category - The 1718 Challenge - in honour of our very own 1718 Silk Patchwork Coverlet which will be on display.
The Quilters' Guild is providing the prize for this category - a once in a lifetime opportunity for a private viewing of the original 1718 Silk Patchwork Coverlet at St. Anthony’s Hall, York (valid for 2 people) during 2019, and a 1718-related goody bag. This Coverlet is not normally available for study requests and viewings so this is indeed a very special prize!!
This category is for quilts that replicate the 1718 Coverlet. Quilts can be full or partial reproduction pieces replicating the blocks and designs used in the original 1718 Coverlet: either follow the design and templates exactly, or interpret the elements to suit your individual design whilst keeping the spirit of the original piece. This gives everyone an opportunity to submit their 1718 inspired piece.
As this is an extra category, the organisers may not have the space to hang all the entries depending on how popular the category is, but they will confirm whether or not they are able to hang your piece by mid-June 2018.
This category is not yet live on the Festival of Quilts Website, but it will be updated in the next two weeks.
