I am a quilter in Norfolk, with many projects in mind but little time to bring them to fruition at present.
I entered a quilt in the Guild section of the Festival of Quilts in 2013 and, although it was never going to win any prizes, just to see it hanging among other lovely quilts was the best quilting experience so far.
I have introduced one of my grand daughters to quilting so hope that the skill will be passed on to the next generation.
In November 2014 I had the opportunity to take quilting supplies and my own skills to a remote part of South
Africa, for three weeks, where worked with children in Primary and High Schools and also a Hospice. The idea was to leave them with some skills which they can use to make items to sell.
In January 2020 I had the privilege to go on a quilting tour with Judi Mendelssohn to Japan. A wonderful experience which I will never forget. We went to the Tokyo Quit show and saw quilts old and new. Whilst there we were thrilled to meet up with Susan Briscoe who gave us a conducted tour of the quilt shop area in part of Tokyo and helped us to chose some lovely fabrics to bring home. I just wish I had a chance to make things with all of them. Lockdown may help in this!!!
If anyone fancies a Quilting Retreat as their holiday, we have a fully fitted holiday chalet at Mundesley, near to Cromer, Sheringham and North Walsham in Norfolk which we can let out during the months from March to October. The area is lovely for walks, sea, sand, birds etc and we can provide a sewing machine if anyone needs one. There are several quilt and sewing shops in the area, a small one in Mundesley itself. The chalet will accommodate 4/5 people. Please email me for details if you are interested. .
