I live in the Shetland Isles and have been sewing for many years; mostly childrens clothes, dressmaking and costumes for amateur dramatic productions including pantomimes, musicals and a variety of plays. I have only been quilting for a few years but not really sure what I was doing but there is a sewing group here called Shetland Needleworkers where I have attended a number of workshops and learnt a lot about patchwork, quilting and hand stitch. We have had a number of top quilters come to Shetland at various times for long weekend workshops; these include Sheena Norquoy, Phillipa Naylor, Pat Archibald, Jenny Raiment, Janice Gunner and Gillian Cooper. I started Gillian Cooper's online City and Guilds Certificate in Patchwork and Quilting last year and now half way through the course. I have attended the Festival of Quilts several times but it is not always easy to get to from Shetland. I am looking forward to learning more from my contact with the Quilters Guild.
