Gillian Callaghan

Where to start? I have lived in Carmarthenshire for well over forty-five years and I have made many friends from within the quilting groups I have joined - The Guild, Towy Quilters, the Twenty-Eleven Group and the Contemporary Quilt Group. In 2019 I have now taken a new route in my quilting journey and have joined the Modern Quilt Group. I may return to my contemporary roots but I am looking forward to taking on the challenge of 'Modern' although my house will never be neat and organised!
In 2016 I taught a small group of ladies from North Carmarthenshire the techniques of quilting etc. and we have formed a group and meet twice a month (yet to be affiliated - I am working on it!) We are known as Llanycrwys Quilters.
My other hobbies are walking, gardening, nature, Christmas Craft Fairs and family history.
November 2018 Update - The last two quilts I have made have been Foundation Pieced [over fine calico]. It is a technique that I enjoy because I can hand quilt the blocks and can take them with me where ever I go. I have enrolled onto a Jane Hall workshop at 'the Academy of Quilting' on-line Quilting School. I am looking forward to mastering 'pineapples' and will update members on my progress .... this is a 'slow' process as I digressed into handpiecing 'a quilt' inspired by one of the sample blocks - 'Geese over the Cabin'!
So on with the Modern, continuing with the Foundation Piecing and everything in between.
