Cecilia Slinn

Indulged by my Grandmother who spent a great deal of time pushing me towards anything that involved needles ... like many quilters I started sewing at a very early age.

In 2005 my husband and I moved away from the South to the picturesque location of Montgomery and live right on the border of England and Wales .... literally as the house is in England and the top of the garden Wales looking out over The Offa's Dyke Path.

My love with Quilting developed at this time and having made a Sampler Quilt ... courtesy of Lynne Edwards's Sampler Book and diving straight into the deep end made a King Size !!!! I soon realised I couldn't quilt it on my small sewing machine and as it contained 'Flying Geese' and the such couldn't be edge to edge quilted so had it Custom Quilted ... in a nutshell I was not happy with the result and thought if anyone was going to spoil my work it was me and set out to learn Free-Motion-Quilting !!

The rest as they say is history !!!

I now spend my time Quilting on both my Bernina Sewing Machines: a 550QE and Q20 - a sit down long-arm. Free-Motion is my passion and love quilting Wholecloths and Vintage pieces although still indulge in patchwork, applique and other techniques on occasion.

Another passion is teaching others and find it immensely gratifying to watch them develop their skills in both Patchwork and Free-Motion. I also run a Sewing Group just South of Shrewsbury although not everyone is a Quilter.

The attached picture is of my latest piece ... a Wholecloth entitled 'Bubbles' and the Gallery below showcases some of my other work over recent years.

Although geographically I live in Region 11 .... I actually live right on the border of THREE Regions 11, 12 and 13 and in many cases am nearer to members in 12 and 13 than those in 11! I am happy to travel within these 3 regions and indeed further afield but obviously these may involve accommodation.
