Stewarding at Festival of Quilts

A steward in action!

Are you interested in volunteering to Steward for the 2021 Festival of Quilts at the NEC, Birmingham, this year? The show runs from Thursday 29th July through Sunday 1st August 2021. Due to the open hours being extended this year, the shifts have altered slightly, and are now 2¼ hours each, and a 15-minute break is available during shifts if needed. As all the competition quilts and the Stewards Office are in Hall 6, this makes things a little easier for us. Other changes to the normal process will be advised to our Stewards through email updates.

Stewards are needed to ensure the quilts on display remain in good condition and occasionally assist with any queries visitors may have

Wearing the ‘Festival of Quilts Steward’ sash, a pair of white gloves, a copy of the Show Guide and the Competition Catalogue, our Stewards are equipped to help with most minor queries. Stewards are the only people allowed to touch the quilts (for minor adjustments or to display the reverse of a quilt for visitors). Friendly conversation with visitors is encouraged, and our Stewards often meet some of the competition quilt-maker(s) and get to hear their stories first-hand!

Stewards who complete two x 2¼-hour sessions on any day(s) are entitled to free (and early) entry to the show, plus use of the Steward Room and facilities and are issued with a copy of the Show Guide and Competition Catalogue which you get to keep.

If you feel you can only manage one x 2¼-hour session (or would just like to give it a trial this year) you get the same benefits EXCEPT free entry - you will need to buy your ticket to get in to the show
