Regional Day

Regional Day will be from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

The morning speaker will be Sandra Grusd - 'Me and My Quilts'

Sandra moved to South Africa after training at Liverpool College of Art.  She is interested in many disciplines of craft work and, after several years of studying and teaching calligraphy, she came to quilt making via embroidery.  Sandra rarely designs her quilts in advance - she loves to improvise, letting the work on the design wall dictate what comes next.  She has taken workshops in the USA with Nancy Crow, Sue Benner, David Walker and others.  Dyeing and printing her own cloth is important to her, and she likes to incorporate many different quilt making techniques into one piece of work.  She is a member of the groups Hanging Together and Contemporary Quilt.

The afternoon speaker is Melanie Worgan, the Education Officer at the Quilt Museum and Gallery, and she will show some of the Quilters' Guild collection - 'Unfolding the Quilts'.

Tickets will be £8.00 for Guild members, and £14.00 for non-members.  Booking is essential - no tickets will be sold at the door.  The priority booking period for Guild members starts on 28th August 2010, and the open booking period will start on 18th September 2010.  The booking form for this day is on page 31 of the newsletter.  Please also see the article on page 32 of the Autumn newsletter regarding payment by electronic bank transfer.

There will be a display of the Miniature Quilt Group suitcase (or, rather, handbag) collection, and there will also be a display of work by a local quilt group.
