Lunesdale Patchworkers and Quilters' Group

They produced birthday blocks for each other last year and the results of these, along with their many other quilts, will be on show at their bi-annual quilt show on 14th and 15th May 2010, 10.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. each day, at 31 New Road Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria.  Admission fee is £2.00, with the proceeds going to the charity 'Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs'.  There will be a raffle, tombola and crafts for sale.

In 2008, the group raised over £1,500 for the North West Air Ambulance.

Phoenix Patchers

Phoenix Patchers is a small group, mainly run on a mutual support and teaching basis, having grown out of an adult education class.  The members are therefore at all levels, from beginners to the original teacher Carol Mitson

Each year the group has a Linus Challenge to make a quilt for Project Linus, using at least one piece of fabric from the Linus fabric box which contains a wide variety of fabric, all of which has been donated.  The quilt can be any technique and the standard is getting higher each year.  A small prize is awarded to the winner (more fabric) and, so far, there has been a different winner each year.

The group is holding their first exhibition at the Library in Fulwood, Preston, from 16th to 23rd November, so at last Phoenix Patchers can showcase their talents and aims.

It is hoped that the exhibition will encourage others to join the group.

UFO Patchwork meets every week as follows:

Weeks 1 and 3 - Wednesday mornings 10.00 to 12.30 p.m.

Weeks 2 and 4 - Thursday mornings 10.00 to 12.30 p.m.

During the summer, the meetings on Thursdays stop until September.  The Wednesday meetings carry on through.

New members are welcome, particularly for the Thursday group.  This is just a 'stitch and chat' group - no speakers or workshops - but lots of help!
