Welcome to Region 7
Hello and welcome to Region 7 of The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isle. For those new to the region, our area encompasses the four beautiful counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire, all connected by the Grand Union Canal, the main artery of the industrial revolution flowing from Birmingham to London and of course the M1 which is now 50 years old.
What a fantastic year it has been for quilting, with the superb exhibition of quilts at the V&A, plus great exhibitions in our own museum in York. I'm especially looking forward to the new programme 'Sewing in Wartime' and 'Under African Skies'.
It has been a busy time in Region 7, with lots of great exhibitions by our groups and more still to come. I have just returned from the National Waterways Museum in Stoke Bruerne where we were putting up the exhibition of canal mini-quilts, (see events for details)
It was good to see so many of you at the coffee morning and workshop with Sheena Norquay. We have lots of other exciting programmes coming up in the Region, our next regional day will be October 2nd at Welwyn Civic Centre please see the events page for information. Next year's programme is well under way and promises to be equally as exciting. If any of you would like to help we would love to have you on committee.
We look forward to seeing you, non-members and visitors from other regions are welcome to all our events so do come along. Last area day we had a visitor from Australia, which was wonderful.
Happy quilting, Joan
