Website Welcome 2009

Hello and a warm welcome to you from everyone in Region 2 of the Quilters Guild. 

I am Carol Anne James and as from September 2009 I have taken over the position of Regional Co-ordinator.

Region 2 is a very large and beautiful area of the British Isles. We have 4 counties in our region – Kent. Surrey East Sussex and West Sussex The region ranges from the white cliffs of Dover in the South to the River Thames in the North.  From the Isle of Sheppey in the east to the  Devils Punchbowl and heathland in the west.

We have around 800 Guild members in the Region and  80 quilting groups that we have contacts for.This means there are an awful lot of people enjoying  patchwork and qulting for pleasure in this region.

We also have some internationally know quilters living here who teach, write books and exhibit both at home and abroad. We are lucky to be able to tap into their skills for our Regional Days and workshops as well as inviting quilters from all over the British Isles and further afield to talk and teach here. 

If you are looking for classes we can help with information from beginners to all levels of skill. If you are looking for a group to quilt with and meet like minded people we have information we can share with you. But if you would just like to join the Guild to suppport the educational and Heritage activities then do get in touch. 

All young quilters under 16 who come to one of our workshops in trhe Region get  a years free Guild membership and a chance to exhibit in their own special Challenge at the Hever Castle Quilt Exhibiiton we have in September of each year. The region puts on about 30 events a year for Guild members to get together and enjoy learning new skills, meeting new friends and producing  quilts and hangings for their own and others enjoyment. If you live in one of our 4 counties why not join the Guild and meet up with us.
