Welcome to Region 16: From Your Regional Co-ordinator
Hello everyone and welcome to Region 16!
Region 16 consists of the whole of Scotland and outlying Islands, which makes it the largest geographical region in the Quilters’ Guild. The Regional Committee are all very enthusiastic, and committed to promoting and enhancing the appreciation of patchwork and quilting in Scotland. Committee members are always happy to help you find groups and classes within your local area and to welcome you to our Regional and Area events, or just to provide information about exhibitions and activities in the Region as a whole.
Region 16 hosts two Regional Events each year and there are several other Area Days. Information about these is contained in our quarterly ‘Newspatch’ magazine, or can be found in the Events section on our Regional pages.
We also hold a Members’ Only Residential Weekend at Stirling University every two years with specially invited tutors and an evening lecture on Saturday night (open to all). In 2011, our tutors will be Katharine Guerrier, Jacquie Harvey, Pauline Barnes, Anja Townrow and Susan Chapman. The Saturday night lecture was given by Anja Townrow. The Residential Weekend will be held between 17 and 19 June 2011 further information will be available in the Quilter magazine and on the Events Section of the Region 16 page on the Guild website.
Our next Regional Day will be held on Saturday, 11th September 2010 at the Glenearn Academy, Perth. Our speakers will be: Tina Gravatt and Fiona Diaper. Further information can be found on our Events page.
Our Co-ordinator is Debbie Renton from Dunbar. Debbie has been a quilter for many years and a great supporter of the Guild and Region 16. Debbie would like to thank everyone for their support so far and looks forward to meeting you at future Regional events.
Please feel free to contact Debbie if you would like to know more about Region 16 and, if you're holidaying in Scotland, please get in touch - we'd love to welcome you to our spectacular and lively country which provides so much inspiration to quilters and textile artists all over the world!
Happy Quilting!
