International Service of The Quilters' Guild of The British Isles

The Guild has an International Representative who promotes and maintains The Guild's links with quilters and quilt organisations world-wide.

These services include:

  • Offering advice and assistance to visiting overseas quilters.
  • Providing an extensive list of patchwork and quilting shops and museums with interesting Quilt Collections. These are listed according to geographical location in the UK. This service extends to European lists as well as some areas of USA. A recent addition is 5 pages of relevant information about quilting venues in Australia. These lists are available from Head Office in York. Telephone: 01904 613242 (there is a small fee to cover costs). The International Representative has some files on other destinations for those planning overseas visits.
  • Helping would-be pen-pals to get in touch.

International Officer : Fiona Brockie

New Yahoo Discussion Group for International Members

A Yahoo group has been set up specifically for International members. This will allow members living abroad to make contact with fellow quilters in their part of the world, get together at exhibitions overseas, share their experiences as ex-pat quilters and to keep up with the quilting world in the UK. There will, eventually, also be the opportunity to share photographs, tips and other useful information.

The group is open to any International member of the QGBI. If you would like to participate in the group, send an e-mail, quoting your Guild membership number, to:

e: international@quiltersguild.org.uk

You will then receive an "invitation to join" which will allow you to access the group page. If you would like further information, please write to me, Fiona Brockie, at the above e-mail address.

The Travelling Quilter

Those of you who were following the adventures of the Travelling Quilters might like to know that they have embarked upon a fresh challenge overseas and you can keep up to date with them on their new website:

www.ageingoverlanders.co.uk

This time their journey takes them west towards the USA and Paducah and all points Pacific, by the sound of it.  We wish them well on their new trip and hope that they have many pleasurable and memorable encounters along the way.
