In 1999 The Guild celebrated its twentieth birthday with events including the first Festival of Quilts, which was held at the Indoor Cricket School at Lord’s in London.
The current Festival of Quilts was launched at the NEC, Birmingham, in August 2003. The show attracts over 30,000 visitors and exhibits around 1,000 quilts alongside traders’ stands and an intensive programme of workshops and talks by leading quilters. Since 2012 the Festival of Quilts has been delivered in association with Upper Street Events Ltd.
The Quilters' Guild works closely with Upper Street Events to agree
competition categories, undertake the judging of the quilts and
stewarding of the exhibitions. If you would like to volunteer to steward at Festival of Quilts we would love to hear from you. Volunteers get free entry to the show on any day when they volunteer for two 2-hour sessions. Please email Hilary Kennerley, who organises volunteering for The Guild at Festival of Quilts to register your interest.
